Get ready to enjoy the photos and videos on your computer, in a fun new way, to create custom movies and enjoy your music based on mood. Let’s see how Media Gallery lets you bring your content to life and make the most of your media. Selecting the application automatically takes you to the home screen. Recommendations, that may be of interest to you, are featured on the right. These can be anything, from suggested music and photos to YouTube videos.
You can toss these features around by selecting and dragging them, and also easily organize them by clicking anywhere on the home screen. Click “Refresh” in the lower left corner to reset the recommendations and discover even more media. If you select “Recommended music”, Media Gallery will make suggestions, based on your music collection, that you may enjoy. The menu items on top allow you return to the home screen, view your photos and videos, music and what it’s currently playing. The “Tools” button on the right gives you access to view the Media Gallery tutorial, change settings, get help and more.
Media Gallery organizes your photos and videos, using a timeline format. It sorts photos chronologically for easy access and viewing convenience. In standard view, months are indicated on the bottom and years on the left. You can navigate to photos taken during a specific month and year or view all photos for a given year, by clicking the “All” links. You can also select a small format view and your photos and videos will be dynamically rearranged. The large view offers a bigger viewing size and arranges years along the bottom. You can navigate between months by using the arrows on the screen and select any day or month to view photos (double click for a full-screen view.
Media Gallery allows you to create custom movies with your photos, videos and music. Let’s say you want to create a movie using photos from a particular day. Click “Movie” and select a template you’d like to use. Next, choose between recommended music or a custom track for background music. After choosing your music, click “Play movie” to start the process and watch your movie playback automatically. Even after creating your movie, you can still modify its template, by clicking “Change Template”. If you would like to do more to your movie, “Edit Movie” will open it in VAIO Movie Story, which also comes preinstalled on every Sony VAIO computer. This will allow you to add titles, rearrange photos and videos and more. You can click “Create Disc” to make a DVD or a Blu-ray disc of your photos and videos.
Media Gallery lets you rediscover your music in several different ways, by finding songs you never knew you had. In addition to “Artist” and “Album” views, Media Gallery organizes your music into 24 music channels. These are called SenseMe channels. You can choose to listen your collection by recommended tracks, favorites as well as a shuffle option or through the SenseMe channels by scrolling. Based on your selections, Media Gallery makes online video recommendations from YouTube. It also provides interesting information related to the tracks you’re listening to, such as band’s history, awards and more.
